Barton Malow is seeking a Project Engineer (Industrial Services) to join our team in Valparaiso, IN. This entry‑level role supports Barton Malow’s industrial services by providing technical assistance, managing project documentation, and contributing to field execution. The position offers hands‑on learning, collaboration with field teams, and exposure to core construction practices across automotive, renewable energy, and industrial projects. Travel to project sites is expected.

Position: Project Engineer (Industrial Services)

• Field Engineering
  • Observe and walk project sites to capture safety observations, progress photos, and identify potential issues.
  • Assist the superintendent with daily execution of self‑perform work.
  • Gain exposure to field crews and functional managers to understand construction sequencing, material placement, and field workflows.
  • Support QA/QC activities, quantity take‑offs, and site logistics planning using digital platforms.
• Document Control & Project Support
  • Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, and other project correspondence.
  • Record daily quantities and facilitate weekly productivity reviews.
  • Manage tracking logs for purchased materials and rented equipment.
  • Attend and document project meetings, including recording minutes and action items.
  • Maintain drawings, specifications, and project closeout documentation.
  • Facilitate installation work packages and coordinate with field teams on execution plans.
• Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce Barton Malow corporate safety policies and site‑specific safety requirements.
  • Support proactive identification and mitigation of potential safety risks in the field.

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction software platforms.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Willingness to travel and work in a dynamic, field‑based environment.
• Proactive attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
