Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Employs project integration processes to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and successfully transfer the project to the customer, ensuring objective accomplishment.
  • Integrates product life cycle competence with non-product objectives (safety, cost, schedule, human resources, etc.) and leads the project management team and stakeholders. Ensures alignment of project resources for optimal productivity and applies configuration management from product to project scope.
  • Employs quality management processes to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Employs risk management processes to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and deliver project objectives.
  • Employs procurement management to transfer product and project risk and to establish and deliver value to buyer and seller at a fair price.
  • Employs cost management to estimate, budget, and control costs within project objectives.
  • Employs schedule management to plan, schedule, and deliver the project within designated time objectives.
  • Uses the NIPSCO risk management utility in the development and management of projects, resources, and stakeholders.
  • Applies proficiency in NIPSCO human resource processes to optimize coordination of the project management team and performance, and uses tools to motivate and drive contractor performance.
  • Effectively engages project stakeholders and negotiates to align requirements and expectations with project objectives.
  • Applies proficiency in effective communication management to manage and control project stakeholders.
  • Applies proficiency in project governance and effective communication to ensure safety and environmental objectives are realized.
  • Manage the project in accordance with industry best practices, NIPSCO Organizational Process Assets, and Project Management Guidelines and Standards.
Required Qualifications for Position
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical field plus 6 years technical experience, or 9 years project/architectural-engineering/technical experience, or Project Manager with 2 years PM experience.
  • Expand knowledge of project management methodology, processes, tools, techniques, and software to achieve higher maturity (Level
    3).
  • Expanded comprehension of project management guidelines, standards, processes, and job aids.
  • Expanded proficiency in PMIS utilization and integration; scheduling, risk, cost management software, dashboards, and tool integration of project controls information.
  • Proficiency in leadership, management, organizational theory, and interpersonal skills with situational leadership; manage stakeholders using cognitive ability, innovation, value-based decision-making, integrated communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Able to perform duties under stringent deadlines, schedules, and conditions.
  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to work in areas with high noise, dust, extreme temperatures, confined spaces and chemical hazards.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Position may require up to 50% travel.
  • All successful applicants will be required to pass the PMP PMI Project Management certification within one year of hire date or after meeting requirements to qualify for the examination.
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
  • PMP PMI Project Management Certification; experience in large industrial capital project environments.
