Project Manager
- Senior

Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Project Manager
- Senior to join a gas and electric company in Valparaiso, IN. This is a 9‑month contract to start with the potential for extensions.

Pay

$81.00–$91.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no benefits. ACA‑compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership & Execution
    • Lead all phases of CTG/CCGT project execution (development through COD)
    • Manage EPC contractors and OEMs (e.g., Client, Siemens, Mitsubishi)
    • Establish and maintain project scope, schedule, and budget (typically

      *** B+)
    • Ensure alignment with commercial, regulatory, and operational requirements
    • Drive decision‑making and problem resolution across multidisciplinary teams
  • Engineering & Technical Coordination
    • Collaborate with project engineering team and Owner’s Engineer on gas turbine and steam turbine specifications, HRSG design, BOP systems, phased construction, grid interconnection, environmental permits, and applicable codes
  • Construction Management
    • Oversee site construction activities for civil works, turbine installation, HRSG erection, electrical and I&C installation
    • Monitor contractor productivity, safety, and quality performance
    • Lead site progress reporting and milestone tracking
    • Support outage coordination for tie‑ins (if brownfield project)
  • Schedule & Cost Control
    • Track critical path and implement recovery plans as needed
    • Work with project controls team to monitor EPC and OEM schedules, change orders, contingencies, risk adjustments
    • Administer EPC, OEM, and service contracts; manage claims, disputes, and negotiations
    • Ensure adherence to performance guarantees (heat rate, output, availability)
  • Commissioning & Startup
    • Collaborate with commissioning team to review plans, pre‑commissioning, first fire, synchronization, performance testing
    • Coordinate with operations for successful handoff and ensure COD and contractual milestones are met
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE)
    • Champion safety culture and zero‑incident mindset
    • Ensure OSHA and company safety compliance
    • Oversee environmental compliance during construction and startup
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Interface with executive leadership, utility customers, regulatory agencies, local communities
    • Deliver clear, concise project reporting and presentations
Qualifications
  • Hands‑on senior project leader with deep knowledge of combined‑cycle construction and experience managing OEMs, EPC contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and on budget
  • 10–15+ years of experience in power generation or heavy industrial projects; 7+ years managing large EPC projects (
    *** MM+)
  • Experience with gas turbine (Frame units, aeroderivatives) and combined‑cycle plant construction (1×1 or larger)
  • Proven track record delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and meeting performance guarantees
  • Knowledge of gas system design, construction, contracts, emergency response; local, state, federal codes
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, Microsoft Office, and other relevant tools
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or related field (Required)
  • Master’s degree or MBA (preferred)
Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of CTG and CCGT plant design, HRSG systems, thermodynamic cycles, high‑voltage systems, grid interconnection
  • Familiarity with OEM platforms
Certifications (Preferred)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification
