DEPARTMENT: Development and Storm Water Management DIVISION: Storm Water Management

JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Development and Storm Water Management oversees the inspection, construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of the County’s valuable storm water and highway infrastructure. Incumbent serves as an Engineer (Storm Water) within the Department, providing engineering and related services to various activities and endeavors related to the county’s storm water infrastructure in order to protect the interests of the county and the public.

Said position will be supervised by the Storm Water Program Manager and will plan, design, and review the design of storm water infrastructure projects, including repair and maintenance projects, construction projects, and reconstruction projects, including capital improvement projects. Said position will also conduct desktop investigations, field investigations, and analysis and evaluation of drainage and storm water management issues.

  • Conduct desktop investigations, field investigations, and analysis and evaluation of drainage and storm water management issues, including identifying tributary drainage areas, overland flow routes, and storm sewer flow routes, and performing hydrologic and/or hydraulic modeling.
  • Plan, design, and review the design of storm water infrastructure projects, including conducting design work and reviewing design work conducted by consultants hired to assist the Storm Water Program. Such projects may include repair and maintenance projects, construction projects, and reconstruction projects, including capital improvement projects.
  • Manage consultants hired to assist with the inspection, construction, reconstruction, repair and maintenance of the county’s storm water infrastructure, including communicating, coordinating, and administering contracts with such consultants. Assist the Storm Water Program Manager with maintaining the program’s professional services agreement, advertising available contracts in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and recommending the award of such contracts to the appropriate boards, commissions, and committees.
  • Oversee contractors hired to assist with the construction, reconstruction, repair and maintenance of the county’s storm water infrastructure, including communicating, coordinating, and administering contracts with such contractors. Assist the Storm Water Program Manager with maintaining bidding documents, contract documents, general contract specifications, and technical contract specifications, advertising available contracts in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, receiving and reviewing responses to such advertisements, and recommending the award of such contracts to the appropriate boards, commissions, and committees.
