Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a dedicated and service-focused hospitality leader to join the team of the Grand Gardner Hotel as Bartender. The Grand Gardner Hotel is an Urschel Development property located in Downtown Valparaiso, IN. Urschel Development is a fully owned subsidiary of Urschel Laboratories located in Chesterton, Indiana.
This independent boutique hotel is located on a quiet, tree-lined street just steps away from downtown Valparaiso. Designed to feel welcoming to both guests and employees, it features 58 rooms and suites, a full-service restaurant, a speakeasy, banquets space and inviting shared spaces. This is a place built on teamwork, hands-on training, and growth. Pay starts at $6.40/hour + tips

The Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service with a focus on professional beverage preparation and hospitality in the restaurant and outlet areas. This role involves managing liquor inventory, preparing garnishes, and maintaining a deep knowledge of wine, beer, and specialty cocktails to offer pairing suggestions. The Bartender ensures accurate billing through the POS system, maintains a clean and organized workstation, and collaborates closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to foster a warm and gracious atmosphere.
The ideal candidate is a warm and engaging professional with a passion for mixology and service excellence. Requirements include a thorough understanding of safe serving practices, proficiency with POS systems, and the ability to work efficiently during peak hours. Physical requirements are significant, including the ability to lift up to 80 pounds, carry 50-pound service trays, and stand for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
Previous experience in a high-end bar or boutique hotel environment is preferred.
