General Production

This role supports a fast-paced cable manufacturing facility by performing visual inspections, material handling, and general production tasks across multiple departments. You will help ensure product quality, maintain an efficient workflow, and contribute to a clean and safe work environment while rotating between day and night shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Perform visual inspection of cables as they come off the production line to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Identify, tag, and document broken or non-functional wire so that issues can be addressed promptly.
  • Use a pallet jack to move materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
  • Assist in various areas of the manufacturing plant as needed, including production, shipping, and inventory.
  • Palletize products, pack materials, and stage items for storage or shipment according to established procedures.
  • Move raw materials and finished goods to designated locations to support continuous production flow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing general cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
  • Support machine operators and other team members by helping where needed to keep lines running smoothly.
  • Follow all safety procedures when working around large and older machinery and moving equipment.
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, days, and some Saturdays, and consistently complete required overtime.
Essential Skills
  • Previous manufacturing experience (required).
  • Ability to safely lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, including some Saturdays.
  • Experience using a pallet jack in a production or warehouse environment.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to follow instructions and quality standards for visual inspection of products.
  • Reliability in working rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.).

Skills & Qualifications
  • Machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment (nice to have).
  • General production experience in a similar industrial setting.
  • Computer savvy and comfortable working around production systems (preferred).
  • Experience with packing, production, or shipping operations.
  • Bilingual communication skills (a plus).

Environment

This is a high-volume cable manufacturing facility that produces large cables for power companies. The environment is fast paced, with an inventory area, shipping department, and manufacturing department working together to support continuous operations. The machinery is very large and older, requiring strict adherence to safety practices. The facility is expanding, which may involve changes in layout and additional equipment over time.

Temperatures vary significantly, and it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Employees work rotating 12-hour shifts—starting on night shift (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays) and rotating to day shift (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.) approximately every three months—averaging about 65 hours per week. Steel-toe footwear is required, and employees must wear long pants and work-appropriate attire suitable for an industrial manufacturing environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
