Position
Description:
This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to university systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC support, carpentry, and painting. Pay for this position is $23.00 per hour. Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm.
Major Responsibilities:- Perform general maintenance and repair work, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC support, carpentry, and painting
- Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct routine inspections of campus buildings and systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical and building-related issues
- Assist with seasonal operations (snow removal, heat changeover, event setups, etc.)
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and orderly condition
- Follow safety procedures and campus policies
- Support campus events as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches and job specifications
- Assist other trades as needed
Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical or trade certification preferred
- 2–5 years of general maintenance experience (institutional or commercial preferred)
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and basic carpentry
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of computers for tasks including reading email, logging hours and entering work order information
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve and manage multiple projects
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and campus community members
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Knowledge of a wide variety of tools and equipment
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions
