Environment: All-Weather / Field Operations
The Directional Drill Locator is essential to the precision and safety of underground drilling projects. This role focuses on determining the exact location and depth of drilling operations to meet strict project specifications. You will provide real-time data to drilling crews, utilizing advanced technology to optimize efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
- Damage Prevention: Ensure the protection of existing underground facilities by accurately tracking drill heads.
- Safety Leadership: Maintain a constant focus on safety and strictly adhere to all guidelines and PPE requirements.
- Utility Verification: Verify all underground mark-outs and existing utilities before and during drilling operations.
- Real-Time Adjustments: Work closely with project managers and crews to provide immediate data and operational adjustments.
- Equipment Operation: Successfully operate locating equipment to the satisfaction of construction supervision.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert use of locating equipment to track drill heads with high precision.
- Communication: Strong verbal skills to collaborate effectively with drilling teams and convey critical data in real-time.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain precise records and ensure total compliance with project blueprints.
- Problem-Solving: Capability to address site challenges quickly to allow for timely drilling adjustments.
- Physical Demand: This is a physically demanding role requiring significant manual labor, walking on uneven ground, and working in tight spaces.
- Environment: Must be willing to work in an all-weather environment (heat, rain, cold).
- Travel: Ability to travel throughout multiple work sites as required by the project schedule.
- Industry Knowledge: A solid working knowledge of underground construction is required.
- Specific Tracking
Experience:
Hands-on experience with Vermeer F2 or equivalent trackers is preferred. - Licensing: Valid driver’s license is required; a CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement is highly preferred.
