Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs large corrugating and converting equipment used to produce cardboard boxes in a high-volume manufacturing facility. This role combines mechanical and electrical maintenance, including troubleshooting automated equipment, conveyors, and printing presses, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on corrugating and converting machines used in cardboard box production.
- Troubleshoot and repair conveyors, printing presses, and other automated production equipment.
- Replace and rewire AC/DC motors ranging from 480V to 2140V, including 480V 3-phase and 24V circuitry.
- Inspect, replace, and align gearboxes and bearings on industrial machinery.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including changing filters and fluids and repairing brake systems.
- Use MIG welding on steel components to repair or fabricate machine parts as needed.
- Troubleshoot drives and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including reading and interpreting input and output signals.
- Fabricate and modify parts using drill presses, torches, and other shop equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to diagnose equipment issues and plan repairs.
- Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to receive work orders, document work performed, and order replacement parts.
- Order and track parts, ensuring timely availability for maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with other maintenance technicians and production staff to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working on high-voltage, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Participate in shift-based maintenance coverage, including required weekend work on a rotational schedule.
- Support training and knowledge sharing within the maintenance team to enhance overall technical capability.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in the maintenance field, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical knowledge up to 480V 3-phase, including work with 24V control circuitry.
- Hands-on experience working with AC/DC motors, drives, and sensors in automated equipment.
- Mechanical experience with industrial bearings, conveyors, and automated machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and diagrams.
- Proven experience troubleshooting automated equipment and identifying root causes of failures.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, including reading inputs and outputs for troubleshooting purposes.
- Proficiency in maintaining and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
This is a Permanent position based out of Valparaiso, IN. The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr. Direct hire benefits, full package on file for candidates. This is a fully onsite position in Valparaiso, IN. This position is anticipated to close on Aug 7, 2026.
