Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional

Job Title

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist certified Early Childhood Special Education teachers with teaching as directed
• Monitor students in the classroom, lunch room, bathroom area, hallways, and during recess time
• Assist with data collecting of behaviors
• Prepare curriculum materials and activities for instruction
• Help with maintaining a safe/clean classroom
• Work one on one with students when needed
• Change diapers/training pants as needed
• Assist with toilet training per IEP
• Assist student with feeding as needed
• Assist with life/functional skills
• Assist with medically fragile students within medical guidelines
• Assist with other classes as directed by supervisor and/or principal
• Assist with other clerical tasks as directed by supervisor
• Conduct screeners for early childhood special education as directed by supervisor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Clean background check
• Pass Paraprofessional Assessment at hire or have 60 college hours
• Participate in required Paraprofessional module trainings provided by ADE

Physical requirements*

• Be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Be able to stand the majority of the school day
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop, lift, carry and squat to assist students as needed
• Be able to walk short distances to escort students between classrooms
• Be able to walk on uneven surfaces (playground)
• Be able to run/chase a student that runs from the classroom, line, etc
• Be outside in all weather conditions for assigned duty. This includes recess, before school drop offs and after school pick-ups

Contract:

179 days is a full contract this position. 26-27 contract will be prorated based on days worked.
