Role PurposeThe incumbent supports the Plant EHS Manager and interfaces with all levels of the plant organization to provide technical safety and health support, including hands‑on assistance for safety and health initiatives. The position requires spending 50–70% of the time in the plant.
Physical & Mental Demands- Lifting up to 50 lbs and moving objects.
- Balancing, climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles.
- Crouching, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Pulling, pushing, and repetitive wrist/hand motions.
- Standing, walking, and staying on narrow or slippery surfaces.
- Visual, hearing, and speaking abilities sufficient for operating office equipment and communicating with others.
- Ability to make rational decisions and follow safe work practices.
- Inspect, audit, and monitor equipment, work areas, and practices for compliance with health and safety rules.
- Identify, prevent, and recommend control measures to eliminate safety hazards.
- Conduct new‑hire safety training and periodic compliance audits.
- Track safety work orders and follow up on near‑miss incidents and investigations.
- Perform annual fall protection inspections.
- Serve as a visible member of the plant and participate in the Plant Safety Committee.
- Deliver safety training courses (e.g., Safe Start) and update site safety signage.
- Maintain monthly reports with key safety metrics and trend analysis.
- Document safety data in the Benchmark/Gensuite system and assist with the Contractor Safety Program.
- Support new and modified processes, equipment, and product development to incorporate safety from design to implementation.
- Participate in occupational hygiene reviews, routine safety inspections, and incident investigations, making appropriate recommendations.
- Associate degree in a related field (preferred).
- Five years of relevant experience in heavy manufacturing or construction environments.
- Knowledge of OSHA and industry‑specific regulatory requirements, standards, and official interpretations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and training skills.
- Ability to motivate personnel and secure cooperation for effective safety programs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in computer applications (database, word processing, spreadsheet).
- Attention to detail and understanding of the overall impact of events and decisions.
- Experience dealing with regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors.
