Food Technologist
This position is an entry to mid-level Food Technologist role within the research and development department. The role involves applying scientific principles and food processing knowledge to develop, improve, and innovate food products. It requires collaboration with a team of experienced scientists to support product testing, formulation, and scale-up processes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on new ingredients and develop innovative food products such as sauces, marinades, glazes, batter, and breading.
- Modify existing formulations to enhance product quality or reduce costs.
- Perform physical and chemical analyses on ingredients and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Develop detailed product, process, and packaging specifications for new and existing food items.
- Investigate methods to improve flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, and overall food quality, including chemical, microbiological, and physical attributes.
- Test new products in laboratory settings and develop processing methods in pilot plants to replicate commercial production.
- Manage product scale-up procedures and oversee new product commissioning in production environments.
- Establish operational process conditions and FSQA parameters to maintain quality during manufacturing.
- Analyze operational data to finalize and validate product and process specifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in food science or a relevant scientific discipline from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Previous experience in the food industry, laboratory work, or related training preferred.
- Strong understanding of food science principles and processing techniques.
- Ability to perform physical and chemical analyses of food products and ingredients.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to work with food ingredients containing common allergens.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Availability to work on-site in Van Buren, AR.
Publishing Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annually This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
