The Driver Retention Specialist is responsible for executing the company's Driver Retention Strategy by providing proactive engagement, consistent communication, and exceptional customer service to newly hired drivers. This position works to improve the driver experience, resolve issues quickly, and reduce early turnover.
Principal Accountabilities- Serve as the primary point of contact for newly hired drivers with an emphasis on their first 90 days with the company
- Follow standardized call guides designed to assess driver satisfaction, identify concerns early, and improve first-year retention
- Document all driver interactions, concerns, resolutions etc. and track department performance metrics
- Identify at‑risk drivers and escalate concerns to Operations and supervisor
- Build relationships with Operations, Payroll, Maintenance, Safety, Recruiting, and Orientation to ensure timely resolution of driver concerns
- Utilize approved driver experience funds to recognize drivers, resolve minor issues, and create positive experiences that strengthen driver engagement and retention
- Maintain assigned call completion goals and service level expectations for scheduled driver touchpoints
- Perform other duties as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Skills- Transportation industry experience
- Recruiting or background investigation experience preferred
- Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience
- Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results
- Able to promote a culture of trust and safety
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 75% of the time
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs
- Constantly positions self in work environment
- Frequent communication with peers, supervisors, vendors, and drivers to exchange accurate information and answer questions
- Must be able to detect objects at a distance
- On occasion will move up to 20 pounds of office objects
- Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in adjacent buildings requiring travel in outdoor weather conditions
