City Deputy Auditor Summary

The City of Van Wert Auditor’s Office is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented professional to assist with daily financial and administrative operations.

• Payroll processing and payroll reporting
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Daily banking and reconciliations
• Bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping
• Vendor setup and 1099 processing
• Workers’ compensation administration and reporting
• New hire onboarding and payroll setup
• Maintaining personnel files and employee records
• Assisting with employee benefits, deductions, and leave tracking
• Answering questions and assisting departments
• Managing multiple tasks and deadlines daily

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, payroll, bookkeeping, finance, or office administration
• Governmental finance, payroll, or municipal experience strongly preferred
• Experience with payroll systems, financial software, and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of payroll reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and financial recordkeeping
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
• Must possess excellent attention to detail, dependability, and communication skills
