Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEW
Alliance Automation is seeking a Robotics Engineer to design, program, commission, and support industrial robotic systems used in custom automation equipment. This position is intended for an automation professional with strong hands-on robotic programming, integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning experience. The Robotics Engineer will take technical ownership of robotic applications while working closely with Controls Engineers, Mechanical and Electrical Designers, Machine Assembly, Applications, Project Management, and customers.
The Robotics Engineer supports projects from concept and simulation through programming, integration, runoff, installation, and customer acceptance. This position is expected to remain hands-on and capable of solving difficult robotic application and integration problems both at Alliance Automation and at customer facilities.
Program, configure, commission, and troubleshoot industrial robotic systems for material handling, machine tending, assembly, dispensing, welding, palletizing, vision-guided applications, and other automated processes.
Robotic System IntegrationIntegrate robots with PLC/PAC systems, machine controls, safety systems, vision systems, end-of-arm tooling, servo equipment, industrial networks, and other automation components.
Application Development and OptimizationDevelop robot programs, motion strategies, frames, payload configurations, recovery routines, and application-specific logic. Optimize robot motion, cycle time, reliability, and overall system performance.
Technical Project ExecutionSupport robotic applications from concept through customer acceptance. Identify technical risks, assist with project planning, support machine integration, and help projects meet performance, schedule, and customer requirements.
Standards, Support, and Knowledge SharingDevelop and improve robotic programming standards, reusable routines, documentation, troubleshooting practices, and commissioning methods. Share robotic knowledge with Controls Engineers and technicians to increase the overall robotics capability of Alliance Automation.
Additional Responsibilities / Duties- Program and commission industrial robots and associated automation equipment.
- Develop robot programs, frames, tool data, payloads, motion paths, I/O interfaces, and recovery routines.
- Configure and integrate robot controllers with PLC/PAC systems and industrial networks.
- Integrate robot safety functions with machine safety systems and applicable safety devices.
- Configure and support robot-based and external machine-vision applications.
- Support end-of-arm tooling development, integration, setup, and troubleshooting.
- Optimize robot paths, motion parameters, cycle time, and application performance.
- Develop safe and effective automatic recovery and fault-handling strategies.
- Conduct robotic application reviews and identify potential technical risks before build and commissioning.
- Support robot simulation, reach studies, cycle-time analysis, and application feasibility when required.
- Assist Controls Engineers with robotic integration and troubleshooting.
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of difficult robotic and automation issues.
