Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

Machine Builder Level 3 will play a critical role in the assembly, integration, and testing of automated machinery and systems. The Machine Builder Level 3 will work with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components to build complex machines according to engineering specifications and customer requirements. This position requires advanced mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently on machine builds while also providing guidance to junior builders.

TOP 5 RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Plan, schedule, lead and prioritize the building, installation and RAIL processes.
2) Communicate any build issues and redline according to the company processes.
3) Integrate electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems within the mechanical assemblies.
4) Provide mentorship and training to machine builders and apprentices.
5) Lead assembly and installation projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and within budget.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

• Assemble, align, and install mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components in automation systems.

• Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines while handling tools and equipment.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate machine assembly.

• Perform troubleshooting and adjustments on machinery to ensure proper functionality and performance.

• Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and programmers to integrate mechanical and control systems.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and parts are properly stored.

• Align, fit, and adjust parts to ensure smooth operation and proper tolerances.

• Assist in the installation of pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems within machines.

• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and minor electrical issues during assembly.

• Assist in the debugging and testing of machines, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards before delivery.

• Follow all safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a safe and organized work environment.

• Document assembly processes and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

• Provide mentorship and training for Level 1 and Level 2 Machine Builders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• 4 plus years' experience in machine building, preferably in an automation or manufacturing environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training.

• Vocational school or junior technical college training in related industry.

• Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing noted tasks related to machinery building and repair work.

• Experience with precision alignment and the use of measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

• Strong mechanical and electrical assembly skills, with experience in pneumatics and hydraulics.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Willingness to learn and grow within the automation industry.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Willingness to travel on installs inside and outside the United States

• Must furnish the basic hand tools of the trade

• Ability to operate a forklift
