Van Wert City Schools are seeking a compassionate, student-centered licensed Social Worker to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students, predominantly in grades 6–12. Support for other grade levels may also be included. The Social Worker will collaborate with students, families, school counselors, and administrators to reduce barriers to learning and promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs
  • Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans for students experiencing academic, social, or emotional challenges
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop strategies that promote student success
  • Serve as a liaison between school, families, and community agencies
  • Respond to crisis situations and provide short-term crisis intervention
  • Support attendance initiatives and behavior intervention plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all state, federal, and district regulations
  • Promote a positive school climate and advocate for student equity and well-being
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
  • Valid Social Work license from the Ohio CSWMFT board
  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred
  • Strong knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and mental health interventions
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with crisis intervention and behavior support
  • Familiarity with special education processes and school-based services
  • Experience working in a school or youth-serving setting
