Summary Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Administrative Assistant provides essential operational, administrative, and governance support to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of YFNCT.
This role supports board coordination, records management, organizational filing systems, and YFNCT asset clean-up and organization, while also assisting with communications, scheduling, and general office administration.
This is a pivotal moment for YFNCT as we enter a new  strategic phase focused on strengthening Indigenous tourism, expanding partnerships, and elevating Yukon First Nations stories across the territory and beyond. The Administrative Assistant will play an important role by keeping the office organized and running smoothly to support this work

Employment

¾ time (approximately 28-30 hours/week).

1-year term with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

Administration and Office Operations

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for:

  • Maintaining organized digital and physical filing systems;
  • Supporting YFNCT asset inventory, clean-up, and records organization;
  • Managing correspondence, scheduling, and document preparation;
  • Assisting with financial documentation coordination alongside bookkeeping support; and
  • Providing general administrative support to the Executive Director and organization.
Board and Governance Support
  • Coordinating board meeting logistics, agendas, and document packages;
  • Recording and maintaining meeting minutes and governance records;
  • Supporting board communications and filing of governance documents; and
  • Assisting with annual reporting and compliance documentation.
Organizational Support
  • Assisting with communications, membership correspondence, and information requests;
  • Supporting events, meetings, and engagement activities as required;
  • Helping maintain databases, contact lists, and organizational records; and
  • Completing other administrative duties that contribute to a successful team and organization.
Skills

The Administrative Assistant:

  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time-management skills;
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication abilities;
  • Is proficient with Microsoft Office and general office technology;
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism;
  • Shows initiative and problem-solving ability; and
  • Works respectfully within Indigenous cultural contexts.
Essential Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of administrative or office support experience;
  • Experience supporting meetings, filing systems, or records management;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational accuracy; and
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Assets
  • Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history, cultures, and governance;
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or boards;
  • Familiarity with records management or asset inventory processes; and
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain.
Specifics of Employment

The Administrative Assistant:

  • Reports to the Executive Director;
  • Provides administrative and governance support across the organization; and
  • Contributes to maintaining strong and effective operational systems for YFNCT.

Some occasional evening or meeting support may be required.

Salary range: $27.25 - $33.25/hour, commensurate with experience.
