Document Solutions; and a variety of experience programs, Ancillary Services strives to create vibrant, engaging and welcoming spaces across all three SFU campuses.

About the Role

The Functional Analyst provides day to day operational support for Ungerboeck Event Business Management System (EBMS). The position serves as the departmental expert in the use of the EBMS events module and adapts and responds to system problems or changes by investigating errors or processes, reviewing configurations, and analyzing data and developing specifications for technical personnel to correct problems or make updates needed by MECS.

The Functional Analyst works closely with end users by providing training and support in application usage, problem resolution, and business process optimization. The incumbent analyzes business reporting requirements for MECS and develops queries and reports to provide analytics for event planning and decision-making processes. The position provides training for new and temporary staff, as well as staff in other departments.

The position is responsible for the administration and reconciliation of the department's ticket revenue accounts. The Functional Analyst reviews business practices and advises MECS staff on best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline and two years of related experience in a functional role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Proficiency in Event Business Management Systems (e,g. Ungerboeck).
  • Good knowledge of MECS practices and functions (e.g., event planning, management reports, registration module, payment, events calendar and history, event budgeting).
  • Good knowledge of enterprise level information systems (i.e. SIMS, HAP, FAST).
  • Proficient in the use of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Good knowledge of business process design and analysis.
  • Good understanding of creating client-centred processes.
  • Good knowledge of financial administration.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Good research skills.
  • Excellent process analysis, mapping, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, facilitation and training skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise tact, mature judgment and diplomacy.
  • Ability to arrange suitable transportation to various work locations.
