Job Title:
Senior Consultant, Strategy Decision Support
Senior Consultant supporting UBC’s Strategy & Decision Support (SDS) unit, reporting to the Associate Director. The role manages and leads strategic initiatives and projects across SDS service offerings – business strategy development, strategic planning, financial health and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage project plans: define objectives, scope, approach, budget, schedule, performance measures and interdependencies.
- Lead and facilitate stakeholder engagement, including client-facing meetings, interviews, focus groups and workshops.
- Conduct thorough multi‑source research, data verification and analytic synthesis to produce key insights and recommendations.
- Design and build financial models and scenario analyses for University‑wide initiatives.
- Produce clear, concise project reports, presentations and Board‑level documentation.
- Drive business process improvement initiatives, defining metrics, evaluating performance and recommending reforms.
- Supervise and coordinate project teams, including consultants, clerical staff and student workers, up to six members.
- Collaborate with senior leadership across academic and administrative units to address sensitive, confidential projects.
- Represent SDS on committees and work groups, contributing to decision‑making and institutional objectives.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Completion of a CPA program (CA, CGA, CMA).
- Minimum seven years of related experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (MBA preferred).
- Experience in strategic planning, financial modelling and business process improvement.
- Prior exposure to complex stakeholder environments and facilitation.
- Expertise in strategic planning, facilitation and consensus building.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office; advanced data/BI tool knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, project management and organizational skills.
- Capacity to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to build relationships across all levels of the University.
