Position: Project Controls Analyst )

Stantec Buildings team seeks a Project Controls Analyst (PCA) who will support Project Managers (PMs) and the Project Controls Professional to ensure the successful financial execution of projects and contribute to the company’s profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain proficient knowledge of Stantec Project Management tools (Oracle, Power BI, Project Pursuit Tool (PPT), Integrated Project Management (IPM) and Project Update Review Service (PURS), etc.) and adhere to Stantecs overarching project management framework processes to support ISO
    9001 compliance.
  • Assist the PM team with work‑plan implementation, analysis of work plan against schedule, and use of resourcing applications as appropriate.
  • Assist with contract and legal compliance review.
  • Coordinate subcontractors by preparing agreements, tracking change‑order status, and monitoring budgets.
  • Review time and expenses charged to projects and coordinate adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist the PM team with monthly financial reports and communicate billing plans to Project Accountants.
  • Assist PMs with budget and schedule tracking, maintain risk logs, and ensure deliverables go through the proper review process.
  • Review contract invoicing requirements and ensure accuracy and completeness, checking for adherence to rate schedules, proper PO references, and additional client‑required reporting.
  • Manage outstanding account receivables with finance and/or the client as appropriate.
  • Support PMs with estimate‑to‑complete (ETC) requirements using the tools mentioned above.
Capacities and Credentials
  • Understanding of project accounting principles, project profitability, and inter‑departmental accounting layers.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and act on contractual agreements.
  • Analytical mindset capable of synthesizing data, making recommendations, and identifying potential issues or trends.
  • Proficient with spreadsheets, database systems, and report generation.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple project tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels and locations.
  • Collaborative work style while maintaining autonomy.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe or Bluebeam.
  • Willingness to learn new software to improve delivery efficiency.
  • Reliability, follow‑through, and teamwork.
Education and Experience

Associate’s degree in business, engineering, or finance preferred with a minimum of 6years of experience or an equivalent combination of skills and experience. Experience in an architecture/engineering firm, accounting firm, or construction‑related company preferred.

Job Environment

Typical office environment with prolonged computer use; occasional field work may expose the employee to inclement weather.

Pay Range

Locations in Lower Mainland – BC, GTA & Ottawa, Ontario: $61,900.00 – $86,700.00 annually. Compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
