Role overview

As Legal Counsel, Brand Protection & Litigation, North America, you will play a critical role in protecting the strength, trust, and integrity of lululemon’s brand across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. You will lead proactive intellectual property enforcement, anti‑counterfeiting initiatives, and marketplace policing efforts to safeguard lululemon’s trademarks, designs, and innovation across physical and digital channels. This role is on‑site in Vancouver, British Columbia, reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Brand Protection.

responsibilities
  • Lead brand protection and enforcement strategies across North America
    , including counterfeiting, gray market activity, parallel imports, and unauthorized resellers.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Commercial, and Regional teams to support territorial brand protections, distribution strategies, and resale controls.
  • Manage customs recordations and enforcement efforts with Canadian, U.S. and Mexico border authorities to identify and intercept unauthorized shipments.
  • Investigate and take action against third‑party sellers and networks contributing to brand dilution, consumer confusion, or safety risk.
  • Design and implement digital brand protection strategies across marketplaces, standalone websites, and social media platforms.
  • Oversee counterfeit detection, takedowns, and escalation efforts on major e‑commerce and social commerce channels.
  • Collaborate with Brand and Marketing teams to ensure digital brand consistency and address unauthorized or misleading uses of lululemon IP.
  • Monitor and enforce against impersonation accounts, fake influencer affiliations, and unauthorized brand representations on social platforms.
  • Deploy and optimize monitoring and enforcement tools to proactively detect and respond to brand misuse.
  • Drive cease‑and‑desist actions, enforcement escalations, litigation support, and coordinated cross‑border brand defense initiatives.
  • Support on general IP litigation matters.
Experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in brand protection, IP enforcement, commercial law, or related legal practice.
  • Experience supporting North American and cross‑border enforcement initiatives preferred.
  • IP litigation and general knowledge of IP law.
Education & licensing
  • JD, LLB, or equivalent legal degree.
  • Admission to practice law in Canada and/or the United States.
Core expertise
  • Anti‑counterfeiting strategies, including online and offline enforcement.
  • Gray market and parallel import mitigation in Canada, Mexico and the U.S.
  • Marketplace policing and social media IP enforcement.
  • Experience working with customs and border authorities (e.g., CBSA, CBP) and global enforcement agencies.
  • Familiarity with AI‑driven brand monitoring tools and enforcement platforms.
  • Strong understanding of North American and global e‑commerce ecosystems, including Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, and social commerce platforms.

  • Strong judgment in balancing brand protection, consumer trust, and business objectives.
