Senior Effects Technical Director at ILM

ILM invites qualified individuals to express their interest in a future Senior Effects TD role. In this hybrid position, you’ll work 2-3 days a week onsite in Vancouver. Applicants will focus on producing FX elements while contributing to lighting and compositing and mentoring junior artists as they develop novel approaches to visual effects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create FX animation and dynamic simulations

• Light complex elements with supervisor communication

• Estimate time requirements for shot deliveries

• Handoff elements to rendering and compositing teams

• Share work in dailies and attend relevant meetings

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years professional VFX work or 7 years without formal education

• Excellent aesthetic judgment and communication

• Mastery of Houdini and production pipeline processes

• Basic proficiency with Nuke and Linux scripting

• Deep understanding of animation and visual storytelling fundamentals
