Senior Effects Technical Director

Lead visually compelling projects as a Senior Effects Technical Director in Vancouver. Produce dynamic simulations and stylized visuals with expert-level skills in Houdini and 2D FX animation.

In this role, you will independently generate a variety of FX elements that align with project aesthetics. The position requires a solid foundation in hand-drawn 2D techniques alongside extensive production experience. Key responsibilities include creating sprite sequences, designing FX animations, and managing shot data while mentoring junior artists and presenting work in dailies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create hand-drawn 2D FX as sprite sequences

• Design and produce FX animations and procedural simulations

• Conduct final frame paint overs for 3D productions

• Mentor junior artists on techniques and best practices

• Present shot work during dailies and meetings

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional VFX experience

• Proficient in Houdini and 2D FX animation

• Strong portfolio illustrating aesthetic skills

• Knowledge of Linux and Python scripting

• Basic experience with Nuke
