Senior Designer, CG
Overview
Wild Brain Studios is looking for a Senior Designer, CG to join our team. Reporting to the Producer, this position is an essential creative member of the design team. Working under the supervision of the Art Director, you will execute key FX designs and create original FX concepts for the production. You will strive to maintain the show style with your designs and keep them working within the story specifications.
You train, mentor and motivate new designers on the crew and communicate effective and production‑friendly solutions when requested. This role is required to be located within British Columbia, Canada.

Responsibilities- Execute key FX designs to establish the look of the show
- Provide multiple concepts in different styles, including timing stages for FX
- Collaborate creatively with the design, FX and technical departments
- Keep current with scripts and animatics to inform design choices
- Learn and adhere to established production methodology
- Create original designs on show style according to production schedule
- Ensure design viability is appropriate to the modelling and animation budget
- Identify and communicate any issues, concerns or efficiencies to production or art director as appropriate
- Execute changes on designs based on feedback from art director
- Keep files efficiently organized
- Carry out all duties in a professional and positive manner
- 3+ years of experience in production design for animation
- Experience designing a variety of stylized FX in CG and 2D
- Strong drawing and colour fundamentals
- Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently
- Ability to take direction, collaborate and be a team player
- Ability to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
- Open to direction and able to embrace change
- Encourages feedback and new initiatives
- Strong problem‑solving skills
- Enjoys working in a team atmosphere and has a proactive approach to work
- Design education is an asset, but not required
$1,400 - $1,600 CAD per week based on a 40‑hour work week. Candidates are paid within the range posted; the exact pay will vary based on level, responsibilities, expectations, experience and internal equity.

This is a Union position and the terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement.
