The TeamThe Government Communications and Public Engagement (GCPE) Visual Production team within Digital Communications creates photo, video, and social media content that connects people in BC to the information and services they need, when they need it. We are a fast-paced, collaborative team that blends technical expertise with creative storytelling to bring ideas to life across a diverse range of productions and digital platforms.
The RoleReporting to the Manager, Visual Production, the Video Producer tells stories that support government communication objectives through video and photography. The Video Producer supports senior government officials, media, and the public by delivering a range of video content including live streamed events, media availabilities, recorded announcements, greeting videos, and other digital content, and must be able to move seamlessly between high‑pressure live production environments and creative digital content work.
This role covers all aspects of production — from concept through to shooting, editing, and post‑production — and includes producing original short‑form social media content, while contributing to shared ideation and peer feedback within the Digital Communications team.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as videography, digital media production, photography, or a related discipline AND two(2) years related experience*. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- * Related experience includes:
- Experience in documentary filmmaking
- Experience in social media video production
- Experience in video/photo production and editing
- Experience with video storytelling techniques
- Experience working in broadcast production‑related role.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Experience working with senior government officials
- Captioning and subtitles in English and additional languages
- Fluency in another language (such as Simplified and/or Traditional Chinese, Punjabi, French).
Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Understand and commit to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Work outside of standard business hours (including statutory holidays and weekends).
- Work on‑call and extended hours during emergency activations, including operational deployments across the province.
- Work flexible work arrangements (schedules and workplaces). Evening and weekend work will be required to accommodate meetings, travel, etc.
- Travel to all regions in B.C. for events and tours.
- Must have a valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license.
There is 1 position available located in Vancouver.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
The starting salary for this position is typically between $66,900.01 - $74,025.06 annually and will be determined by the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
This position is excluded from union membership.
