We are a fast-growing startup based in Vancouver, BC. We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Loan Servicing Specialist who enjoys solving problems and taking ownership of projects. While experience in mortgage loan operations or servicing is an asset, we’re equally interested in candidates who demonstrate strong analytical thinking, organization, and the ability to learn quickly in a complex, process-oriented environment.
Here’s the full hiring process, broken down:
- Screening to make sure the position/company is a fit for you. You have to want to work at a small, rapidly growing company.
- Interview with one or two of our team members to go over your skills, background, and fit with Fraction.
- You will be completing a short Mini Project as part of the interview process. Our hope is that a) it more closely shows how you actually produce work, and b) it is our replacement for the painful all-day onsite that lots of companies do. Somewhat unique (as far as we know) is that we actually have every single person in the company across all departments complete a Mini Project.
- A final culture/values interview with the co‑founders. This is a chance for you to get some face‑time with each of the founders to get a feel for the vision we are trying to enact and ensure it resonates with you.
What’s the work like?
Fraction has an active book of mortgages in Canada. Your primary role will be to service these mortgages. This involves:
- Identifying and implementing innovative ways to automate processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Being the first point of contact for our customers.
- Preparing monthly reporting for borrowers.
- Preparing onboarding of new customers.
- Preparing payout statements and discharging mortgages.
- Responsible for property tax, insurance, and credit monitoring for our portfolio.
- Preparing reports as needed for Fraction’s mortgages.
In addition, you will also be responsible for helping the Ops (Origination) team as needed. Tasks could include:
- Reviewing and preparing legal documents such as the loan agreement, mortgage registration documents, and instructions to conveyancer/escrow.
- Reviewing income documents or appraisals for completion.
- Acting as a backup for the Ops team as needed.
Remote vs. Onsite?
This is a hybrid role, and you are expected to come to our office in Gastown on a regular basis.
What are the expectations?

- Experience in mortgage loan operation and servicing is preferred, but not necessary. We welcome candidates with transferable experience from operations, administration, compliance, customer support, or project coordination roles who are eager to learn the mortgage servicing lifecycle.
- Skilled in working on multiple projects at once, prioritizing, working independently and comfortably under pressure; all while exhibiting strong technical and problem‑solving skills.
