- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment with a current requirement of two in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change).
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver or Halifax.

EDC’s Corporate Lending Team provides financing solutions in support of Canadian exports and foreign investments to Canadian exporters and their foreign customers; and Canadian investors and their foreign affiliates.
Discipline Summary- Main focus is refining financing and portfolio management expertise, developing customer skills, increasing engagement across EDC and leading Corporate Lending initiatives.
- Works in collaboration with business customers, foreign buyers, financial institutions and internal stakeholders to underwrite, structure and negotiate lending solutions.
- Structures and delivers financing solutions (direct loans, syndicated loan participations, guarantee structures, leasing, etc.) that support the needs of customers across all industry sectors.
- Responsible for accurate and timely completion of all annual reviews in portfolio, often with participation from Associates or Senior Associates.
- Manages the financial performance of a portfolio of loans at the transaction and portfolio levels and acts as the primary point of contact for loan/guarantee customers post-signing.
- Proactively manages risks in their portfolio by ensuring they are knowledgeable and informed on their primary sector.
- Conducts regular risk analysis and credit reviews of a portfolio of loans and guarantees.
- Conducts due diligence and assesses company credit, industry, country, CSR and other applicable risks, negotiates mitigants and financial terms and conditions and establishes or validates appropriate transaction pricing compliant with market window or consensus pricing guidelines as applicable.
- Reviews or develops financial models, including appropriate assumptions, drivers and methodology.
- Leads the credit recommendation process and obtains all required approvals.
- Aids in drafting and/or review of credit documentation as required in collaboration with legal counsel.
- Proactively manage risks in the portfolio and become knowledgeable of risks and market trends in the sector.
- Independently lead or advise on proportionate share of transactions/customer portfolios, with complexity aligned to skill set.
- May independently lead or advise junior team members on the delivery of financing solutions.
- Assess and mitigate transaction risks.
- Determine financial eligibility of customers, borrowers and other counter parties and, with counsel, propose and negotiate loan documentation.
- Formulate pricing/terms/structure reflective of risk, strategy and market conditions.
- Recommend transactions to the appropriate delegation of authority within specified parameters, policies and guidelines.
- Guide customer engagement and negotiations.
- Collaborate with business development colleagues on account and sector strategies.
- Show engagement and collaboration with internal partner teams on strategy and risk management to deliver on customer solutions.
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance/Accounting, or in a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant work experience in lending, underwriting and credit analysis in commercial or corporate banking.
- Familiarity with credit loan documentation.
- Effective communication, influencing and negotiation skills (written, verbal, presentation).
