Senior Human Resources Business Partner

Responsibilities Act as a senior strategic advisor to managers, directors, and executive leaders on workforce, labour, and organizational matters
Lead and advise on complex labour and employee relations issues, including collective agreement interpretation, investigations, discipline, and resolution strategies
Support and prepare leaders for collective bargaining and union engagement, with a focus on long-term partnership and business sustainability
Coach and develop leaders—many of whom are new to people management or unionized environments—on performance management, accountability, and leadership effectiveness
Translate business priorities into aligned people strategies, including workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, engagement, and DEI initiatives
Partner with Centres of Expertise to design, implement, and evolve enterprise-wide HR programs and policies
Serve as a change and transformation partner, leading or supporting complex initiatives and cross-functional projects
Leverage workforce and engagement data to provide insight-driven recommendations to senior leaders
Contribute to the overall strength of the HR function by mentoring peers and providing informal leadership
Qualifications 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior-level HR business partnering
Demonstrated experience in a unionized environment (municipal, crown corporation, healthcare, regulated, or similar) — required
Strong labour relations capability, including advising leaders through complex and sensitive issues
Proven ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior and executive leaders
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution
Comfortable making decisions with limited information and navigating ambiguity
Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
Experience working in large, complex organizations; exposure to smaller or more agile environments is an asset
CPHR designation or equivalent education and experience preferred
Pay range and compensation package Competitive base salary (target range approximately $115,000–$140,000, dependent on experience)
