OpportunityHEABC has a temporary opening for a Compensation and Classifications Advisor (one year maternity leave coverage). Reporting to the Senior Director, Compensation and Classification Services, the Compensation and Classifications Advisor is responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with HEABC member employer organizations in the effective provision of compensation and classification services.
The successful candidate will demonstrate compensation and classifications knowledge to provide advice on compensation frameworks and classification systems which contribute to the attraction and retention of health care staff and build on HEABC’s reputation as a strategic partner in health human resources and labour relations.
Key Responsibilities- Completes management and exempt role assessments utilizing a point factor job evaluation plan and designated systems; conducts comparative research to ensure consistent application and considerations to industry impacts, and issues final assessment results. Monitors client group assignments to ensure timely and efficient services.
- Collaborates with members in the establishment of bargaining unit jobs utilizing designated classification systems and evaluation methods. Provides advice related to job and organizational design, classification systems and methods, related collective agreement provisions and other interpretive guidance.
- Provides advice and guidance to HEABC members regarding a variety of compensation and classification matters including the Compensation Reference Plan, compensation guidelines and other related practices and procedures.
- Collaborates with members, health care union and HEABC labour relations representatives; provides classifications support to new certifications, third party classification disputes, etc.
- Participates in short-term projects and initiatives to support the development, implementation and evaluation of compensation and classification service improvements and initiatives.
- Prepares a variety of reports, and spreadsheets, documents.
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field supplemented with five (5) to seven (7) years of recent, related experience.
- Knowledge of compensation, classification and job evaluation practices, methods, and systems.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and collective agreements.
- Ability to partner with HEABC team members and member organizations in creating the human resource and labour relations environment necessary to delivery high quality healthcare.
