The Opportunity
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic advisor and trusted partner to leaders across the organization, driving people strategies that align with business priorities and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture. Operating with a proactive, consultative approach, the HRBP provides expert guidance and thought leadership across key HR disciplines, including labour and employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and leave and attendance matters.
As a core member of the People Partnerships team, the HRBP collaborates closely with client groups to co-create and implement integrated people solutions that enhance organizational effectiveness, build leadership capability, and enable long-term business success.

Number of Positions: 1
Pay Grade: Grade 17 - The salary range for this position is between $86,500 - $117,100. Candidates who meet all qualifications will be hired at the mid-range of $101,800.

As a HR Business Partner
Partner with leaders to support employee development, performance, succession planning, workforce planning, and effective people practices.Provide expert advice on labour and employee relations matters, including collective agreement interpretation, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, grievances, discipline, and performance management, while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and collective agreements.Manage leave, accommodation, and return-to-work processes in collaboration with leaders and third-party providers, balancing employee well-being with operational needs.Coach and support leaders on employee relations, respectful workplace practices, difficult conversations, and leadership effectiveness.Contribute to organizational change initiatives, HR projects, workforce development activities, and the analysis of HR metrics and trends.Provide guidance on compensation programs, job evaluations, internal equity, market benchmarking, and total rewards practices.Develop, interpret, and advise on HR policies to ensure consistent application across the organization.Knowledge,
Skills & Experience:
At least 7 years experience as an HR generalist, Business Partner or equivalent. At least 2 years in a unionized environment and experience in labour relations is preferred.Degree in human resources, business, or related discipline with CPHR designation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Comprehensive knowledge of current human resource management principles and provincial legislation (Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code, Human Rights Code)Experience using data to inform decisions and a willingness to leverage technologies to enhance HR practices.Strong consulting and coaching skills and ability to establish trusting partnerships with clientsAdvanced relationship management skills with the ability to build productive, collaborative partnerships between leadership, employees, union and other internal and external stakeholders.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including incident documentationAbility to manage multiple priorities in an environment with multiple stakeholdersStrong time management and organizational skillsAbility to manage ambiguity and approach challenges with a high level of enthusiasm and initiativeExperience creating, developing and recommending appropriate systematic processes, tools and templatesAbility to recommend process improvements based on industry best practices that best support the HR objectives and streamline/simplify HR operationsAdvanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, with strong ability to quickly learn new computer programsHigh attention to detailAbility to exercise a high level of confidentiality, discretion and judgmentAble to travel overnight throughout BC approximately 10% of the timeBeyond the role:
