As the first dedicated HR hire, you will report directly to the VP of Finance & Operations. This hands-on role involves owning HR operations, payroll, compliance, and employee relations, establishing a solid framework for success. Your contributions will significantly impact the company culture during its transition from R&D to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee employee onboarding, background checks, and orientation
• Manage payroll for salaried and hourly staff in alignment with Finance
• Lead benefits evaluations and annual open enrollment processes
• Ensure HR compliance and maintain employee records
• Serve as the employee relations contact for performance and concerns
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of HR experience in high-growth settings
• Hands-on payroll experience for non-exempt staff
• Strong knowledge of California employment law
• Exceptional communication and judgment skills
