About the OpportunityThe Law Society is currently seeking a permanent full-time Manager, Human Resources, with a strong focus on labour relations, to join our team in a hybrid work environment in Vancouver, B.C.
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this leadership role is responsible for supporting and executing the organization's human resources goals and objectives while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the HR function. The position provides strategic and operational leadership across human resources programs, labour relations, recruitment, compensation, employee relations, HRIS management, and organizational development initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:- Leading the delivery and continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, and services while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and collective agreements
- Providing labour relations leadership through the interpretation and administration of collective agreements and employee relations matters
- Advising managers and employees on HR policies, labour relations issues, performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns
- Fostering positive union-management relationships through ongoing collaboration with union representatives and participation in labour relations initiatives
- Supporting collective bargaining preparation and negotiations in partnership with senior leadership
- Managing, mentoring, coaching, and developing HR team members while overseeing departmental operations and performance
- Leading recruitment and selection activities for senior-level and complex positions while supporting workforce planning initiatives
- Managing compensation, recognition, and reward programs, including compensation analysis and budget modelling
- Overseeing disability management, leave administration, employee engagement, retention, and organizational development initiatives
- Leading HR projects and change management initiatives, including planning, implementation, risk assessment, communication, and reporting
- Managing and optimizing the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to ensure data integrity, security, compliance, and effective utilization
- Acting as the Human Resources representative on occupational health and safety initiatives and serving as Acting Director, Human Resources when required
To qualify, you will need a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation and an undergraduate degree in a relevant field. A minimum of 8 years of progressive senior human resources experience, including extensive experience in unionized environments and at least 5 years focused on labour relations, will also be essential.
