Position: Supervisor, Housing Program (Permanent, Full-Time)

Are you ready to lead with compassion and strategy—shaping transitional housing services that truly transform lives? As a member of the Shelter & Housing Program supervisory team, the Supervisor, Housing Program, will oversee tenant support case management team, and the daily operations of the Transitional Housing Program. The position will coordinate within UGM, manage the referrals to transitional housing, make programming decisions and direct support for the transitional housing participants.

The position will also ensure smooth operation by applying best practices utilizing social work paradigms, by identifying gaps and needs of the branch and providing timely and effective solutions. This support will include liaising and collaborating with various UGM departments and outside contractors. In addition, this position provides support to the Manager, Shelter and Housing program as well as coordination of volunteers within the Housing Programs.

This role also will work collaboratively with the Shelter and Housing leadership team on program development. As a supervisor, you will be a role model for the rest of the team, striving to enhance care for our community members, and services consistent with UGM’s Vision and Core values.

. The starting salary range for this position is $30.40 to $33.22 per hour.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision (60%)
  • Provide supervision and support to team members by creating a safe place for them to debrief problems or critical incidents and receive support as appropriate. Refer to professional counselor and/or manager when appropriate.
  • Partner with the Shelter and Housing Program Supervisory Team in collaborative problem-solving; setting direction and determining how to handle complex and difficult issues with staff or participants and ensuring timely follow-up on action items.
  • Orient, train, supervise, and conduct performance reviews of direct reports.
  • Handle employee relations issues, up to and including recommending termination.
  • Together with the Manager, Shelter & Housing Program attend interviews, making hiring recommendations to HR.
  • Ensure that the Housing Program works within UGM’s Continuum of Care effectively.
  • Work alongside the Shelter & Housing Program Supervisory team to coordinate leadership and decision-making while the Manager, Shelter & Housing Program is away.
  • Coordinate supervised staff hours, scheduling, timesheets, and coordinate with permanent and casual staff on shift coverage, as needed.
  • Represent UGM in community professional meetings.
  • Be part of the rotating schedule of Supervisors-On-Call.
  • Participate in UGM seasonal events (e.g. major meals).
  • Participant Care, Programming, and Administration (40%)
  • Develop and present new Housing Program ideas, goals, objectives and long-term planning initiatives to the Manager, Shelter & Housing Program.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend and implement program improvements.
  • Support staff in coordinating of care for participants by creating care plans and coordinating access to resources and services, as needed.
