About the Opportunity
The Safety Manager will focus on designing and implementing safety programs while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives. This role offers the opportunity to influence safety culture and lead initiatives that have meaningful, organization-wide impact.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and advance organization-wide safety initiatives by developing, implementing, and refining safety management and audit programsAdvise leadership and internal teams on safety legislation, regulatory compliance, and federal requirementsDevelop practical safety policies, procedures, and guidance to support consistent application across operationsIdentify risks and trends through data analysis, incident reviews, and operational insights, and recommend preventative and corrective actionsSupport incident investigations and ensure corrective measures are effectively communicated and implementedDevelop, monitor, and report on safety performance metrics to support strategic planning and decision-makingDesign and support safety training frameworks and competency programs aligned with regulatory standards and organizational needsProvide expertise in emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and coordination across teamsCollaborate with internal departments to align safety practices with claims management, return-to-work, and employee support programsContribute expertise to discussions on job demands, workforce capabilities, and sustainable return-to-work outcomesSupport the development of annual safety priorities, work plans, and budgetsQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field8+ years of relevant experience, including management and leadership rolesProven track record leading safety initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement projectsStrong knowledge of safety management systems, legislation, and federal regulatory requirementsExperience with claims management, return-to-work programs, and employee support initiativesExcellent communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership and external stakeholdersAbility to develop and implement standard operating procedures and emergency response plansProficiency with Microsoft Suite and safety analytics toolsProfessional designations such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) are an assetHands-on, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesCompensation
