Under the direction of the Sr Finance Director, the Payroll Manager, plays a key role in assisting the finance department, managers and employees on-site with the day-to-day payroll functions. This means:
- Manage the Payroll Coordinator and partner with them to oversee all Payroll responsibilities including Year End, TD1 administration, and T4’s
- Validate the accuracy of all employment and pay related updates entered in the HRIS by Payroll Coordinator
- Be the direct point of contact to troubleshoot payroll corrections, issues, and concerns
- Be a UKG HRIS superuser
- Act as the final approver of Timecards during Payroll
- Lead UKG projects (configuration/optimization of currently unused features, configuration of Analytics and reporting, creation of all Payroll SOP’s)
- Oversee financial aspects of Benefits administration
- Review HRIS configuration and processes for inefficiencies, suggest improvements/automation

It takes a special kind of person to work here – does this sound like you?
- Payroll association certification required. College or University education in Human Resources or Accounting is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years’ payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems including UKG is critical
- Knowledge of accounting would be an asset
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office software, particularly Excel for reporting.
- Knowledge of income tax forms, health benefits programs, sick pay, and employment standards.
- Experience in all year end processing activities (T4’s, WSBC, EHT etc)
- Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Experience with managing benefits programs and benefits claims
