Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We're Looking for a Director, Commercial Lines (Mid-Market) , to join our growing team!
What you'll do here:
Drive profitability and growth and contribute to the strategic plan.
Lead a team of managers responsible for Commercial Lines.
Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping direct reports/staff informed on changes/results and share responsibility for the overall performance, productivity and engagement of team members.
Provide coaching, performance feedback and facilitate continuous development and succession planning.
Develop and maintain a strong portfolio of Commercial business through;
Development/Communication of underwriting strategy, effective implementation of the quality review process.
Build strong technical platform for regional business strategies execution; develop and provide guidance on commercial technical issues, policy interpretations, corporate policies and guidelines, uphold risk appetite parameters for the attraction of commercial growth opportunities and collaborate with other departments.
Contribute to the strategic planning process for commercial lines and personal lines (nationally/regionally) and support various projects.
Determine required staffing numbers and staffing levels based on established regional management and corporate guidelines.
Liaise with the regional management team, underwriting managers, corporate underwriting, and claims management on technical and administrative issues.
In conjunction with the Vice President, prepare a budget for annual expenses (salary, operating, etc.) and achieve established the annual budget.
Provide monthly updates and reports to the Vice President on operational items.
What you bring to the table:
Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience managing a team.
Experience in insurance is required.
Demonstrate our Leadership Success Factors.

Can provide strategic direction, to transmit and share information to different target audiences.
Can organize, priority management, capacity for analysis and synthesis, tact, diplomacy and pressure resistance.

Project management skills and change management experience.
Can influence business relationships to achieve business development goals.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
