Primary Purpose

Provides expert advice and services on project management functions, including proactive risk management, quality assurance, business case development, project cost estimation, scheduling and reporting for projects in the Engineering Division. Supervises the management of project documentation, information, and standards within the division. Develops and maintains policies, procedures, standards and guidelines, tools, metrics and measurements for consistent and successful project delivery.

Key Accountabilities
  • Oversee delivery of project management support services for all Engineering projects.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, standards and guidelines, tools, metrics and measurements related to project management to guide successful and consistent project delivery.
  • Support and advise management and project managers to drive project success and define, review and achieve project quality goals.
  • Manage risk documentation and maintain a master risk management report; provide regular risk updates to leadership.
  • Develop robust project scheduling and resource management guidelines; create and maintain master schedule and integrated resource plan.
  • Develop project reporting system and lead creation of regular and ad‑hoc reports and dashboards for Engineering projects and portfolios.
  • Assist in preparation of project phase‑gate reviews; conduct assurance activities to ensure gate requirements are met.
  • Provide centralized training and expert advice to project managers on best practices related to project delivery.
  • Act as liaison with Finance, Strategic Sourcing and Operating Companies for process and standard development.
  • Provide day‑to‑day oversight, coaching and technical advice to reporting employees; collaborate on performance management and recruitment.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a university degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Relevant certification such as PMP is desirable.
  • Five years of previous experience in project management.
  • Solid knowledge of project management principles, theories and practices.
  • Advanced analytical thinking, problem‑solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid time‑management, interpersonal, and technical skills in business and project management software.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation

Hybrid – flexibility to work both on‑site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

The salary ranges from $84,480 to $126,720 per annum, based on education, experience, skills and qualifications. The Total Compensation Package includes extended health, dental, transit pass, public‑service pension plan participation and other offerings.
