Compensation

$70,000 - $95,000

Purpose

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair operations of Sysco's facilities, equipment, and grounds, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment. This role is responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive maintenance programs, managing repairs, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company standards. This position is critical to maintaining the smooth operation of Sysco's distribution network.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all plant and equipment performance – schedules, tracks and completes preventive maintenance as noted in the equipment manufacturer's guidelines, ensures workmanship, and keeps downtimes to a minimum
  • Supervise the daily work and safety of associates and third-party contractors engaged in building, grounds, sanitation, refrigeration systems, powered industrial equipment and security
  • Supervise labor hours and consumable supplies within budget; prepare work schedules of third-party contractors and maintenance staff, including extra workdays and shifts as needed
  • Communicate maintenance information and concerns, and coordinate PM schedules with department heads, staff, and third-party contractors
  • Supervise or lead the proper selection and purchase of approved POs, utilization and inventory of company assets in support of the facilities departments; coordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Work with Operations Manager to prepare budget, profit plans and capital requests as required
  • Evaluate metrics and adjust activities to meet or exceed performance expectations
  • Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within fleet and facility maintenance, power industrial equipment and security
  • Work with Operations Manager to establish preventative maintenance schedules for all systems, equipment and buildings, including refrigeration system, HVAC systems, fire protection and security systems, electrical and energy management, dock doors/dock plate systems, power industrial equipment and building components (roof, interior & exterior floors/walls, doors, paved surfaces and landscaping)
  • Supervise priorities, assign and monitor facility projects for quality and timely completion; utilize maintenance tracking software (CMMS) for task management
  • Conduct audits ensuring all required inspections and documentation are completed accurately (including but not limited to food safety documentation, etc.) and retained to ensure minimum potential for loss
  • Maintain associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings; maintain ongoing interaction; keep open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitor associate morale; and submit and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement
  • Interpret, train and consistently enforce company policies and procedures
  • Assist the Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes, and routine safety inspections; make recommendations for disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required
  • Perform the duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed
  • Perform the duties of a journeyman as required
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date re-certifications of commercial equipment
  • Comply with local, provincial and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. OHS, CFIA, etc.)
  • Participate in departmental on-call program, as designated
  • Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety
  • Adhere to Organization and the Facilities Department policies and procedures including appropriate attire (e.g. PPE, grooming and attendance)
  • Responsible for housekeeping, cleanup of all maintenance areas on a daily basis
  • Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order
  • Interact effectively, build relationships, and demonstrate a high level of cooperation
  • Accountable for accuracy of timecards, approvals and scheduling of direct reports
  • Responsible for compliance with all policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) comprising Sysco's Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role
  • Assist Food Safety Program Manager in ensuring compliance to Sysco's Food Safety Program that leads to compliance with third party certification and customer requirements
  • Understand that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization
  • Willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by acting as an example and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as per business need
