Oversee all accounting functions, including billing, collections, accounts payable/receivable, and trust accounting compliance
Supervise external accounting providers and book-keeping
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Produce and analyze monthly financial reports, KPIs, and variance analyses
Monitor firm profitability and matter-level economics
Manage cash flow and working capital
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and law society financial requirements
Firm Operations & Administration
Oversee daily administrative operations, including external HR and IT service providers
Develop and implement firm policies, procedures, onboarding processes and operational best practices
Identify and drive process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
Support partners in strategic planning and execution
Practice Support & Performance Management
Help implement and manage practice management and financial systems
Strategic & Leadership Role
Act as a trusted advisor to the partnership on operational and financial matters
Participate in firm leadership meetings and contribute to long-term strategy
Lead special projects (e.g., technology upgrades, office expansion, process redesign)
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
What you must have:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field or relevant accounting designation.
5+ years of experience in operations and/or financial management, ideally in a law firm or professional services environment
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, trust accounting and compliance, financial reporting, and budgeting
Experience with legal billing systems, trust accounting, and law firm KPIs is highly desirable
Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
High level of discretion and professionalism
