About the Role

Stantec’s North America water team is seeking a Water Treatment Sector Leader. In this leadership role you can bring technical excellence and innovation to the forefront, lead and develop top talent, and use your influence to redefine possibilities. As a sector leader you will leverage your knowledge of industry drivers and trends to strategically grow our technical capabilities and distinguish Stantec among peers.

You will lead a community of practice that fosters knowledge transfer, encourages innovation, and connects subject‑matter experts to projects that inspire and transform communities. You will also support business development and growth by engaging with clients, creating technical differentiators for water treatment pursuits, and supporting a strong industry brand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a community of practice that shares knowledge and leverages subject matter experts and thought leadership to win, deliver, and innovate in the sector.
  • Attract and recruit top talent to Stantec, and proactively develop our team through mentorship, coaching, and career development.
  • Maintain knowledge of sector‑related industry drivers, trends, regulations, and technologies across North America and globally; use this knowledge to identify and prioritize opportunities to support clients and to strategically grow technical capabilities.
  • Develop and implement branding strategies to promote Stantec and the sector, manage conference participation, and strengthen external visibility, technical credibility, and influence.
  • Recruit and retain a distributed team of sector professionals at all career levels and geographies; connect sector practitioners with project managers and delivery experts to plan and deliver high‑quality, innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with Stantec’s growth leaders and account managers to develop relationships with key clients, connect internal subject matter experts to strategic pursuits, support proposals, identify staffing needs, and pursue shared opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coordination among Regional Sector Leaders and technical personnel to align and foster collaboration across the Stantec practice; engage with innovation initiatives and build credibility through expertise and integrity.

  • Champion of new ideas and initiatives, leading the development and implementation of emerging technologies and approaches.
  • Skilled in collaborating with other technical disciplines to add value to projects.
  • Located in North America (United States or Canada).
  • Ability to travel throughout North America and globally.
Education and Experience
  • 20 years of experience leading technical delivery for water treatment projects, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.
