Creative BC is looking for an experienced financial leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Director, Finance + Administration.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director provides strategic financial leadership across Creative BC and oversees the Finance, Administration, and Systems + IT portfolios. This is a senior leadership role with organization-wide influence, working closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Finance and Audit Committee, and Board of Directors to support sound financial planning, governance, and decision-making.
Leading through two direct reports (the Controller and Manager, Systems + IT), the Director is responsible for the organization's finance function while providing strategic oversight of technology and corporate services. This is an opportunity for someone who can think strategically, build strong relationships, and strengthen the systems, practices, and financial leadership that support Creative BC's work.

: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (PDT) - includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break - Work Model: Hybrid, two (2) days in-office each week (upon completion of in-person training period)
- Salary Range (Annual): $145,000 - $165,000, with the successful candidate’s starting salary determined based on relevant experience and internal equity.
- Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Finance and Audit Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance monitoring.
- Oversee the organization's finance function, including accounting, payroll, cash flow management, treasury activities, financial reporting, and year-end processes.
- Maintain effective financial controls and oversee the annual external audit, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, legislation, funding agreements, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain financial and administrative policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the Controller and Manager, Systems + IT.
- Oversee the planning and ongoing effectiveness of business systems and corporate technology through the Manager, Systems + IT.
- Support the development and implementation of technology initiatives that improve business processes, systems, and service delivery.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with auditors, financial institutions, government partners, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategic planning and organizational priorities as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
This role may be a strong fit if you:
- Hold a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
- Bring significant senior leadership experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, governance, and strategic planning.
- Have experience advising executive leaders, Boards of Directors, and Board committees.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of financial management, internal controls, audit practices, treasury management, and regulatory compliance.
- Have a track record of leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
- Can translate complex financial information into practical advice that supports sound decision-making.
- Have experience providing strategic oversight of business systems or technology through technical leaders or subject matter experts.
- Build collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners.
- Bring sound judgment, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Have experience within the public sector, broader public sector, Crown corporation, or not-for-profit environment (an asset).
- Have experience using Salesforce or another enterprise business system (a strong asset).
