Located on the unceded traditional territory of the Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ First Nations the Museum at Campbell River is an award-winning, regional history museum sharing the stories of the peoples of Northern Vancouver Island.
With a mission “to collect, preserve and interpret the human history of our area”, we view the Museum as a community gathering space. A place that we can come together to share, connect, explore and learn the diverse history of our region.
Museum galleries feature vibrant and contemporary exhibits of First Nations cultures and historic coastal lifestyles, where visitors gain a deeper understanding of the region’s rich history. The experiential and interactive displays were developed over a period of years and through extensive consultation with community advisors.

To assist in the development, delivery and coordination of marketing and special event planning for the summer of 2026 for the Museum at Campbell River.
Responsibilities- Assist with content creation for various social media channels (Facebook, Instagram)
- Support the Promotions Coordinator with the development and creation of marketing materials
- Write and edit content for different platforms on social media and e‑mail campaigns
- Monitor and report review sites
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of various events including the Haig‑Brown Festival and summer programs for both families and the general population.
- Assist with the delivery and updating of marketing plans for various events and initiatives with the Museum.
- Offer occasional support for Visitor Services with general museum reception and meeting and greeting the public at the main entrance reception desk. May also include providing general information about the museum, exhibits and the community.
- Provide administrative support and project support for a variety of marketing programs for the Museum at Campbell River.
- University students under the age of 30 who were registered as full‑time students in the previous semester and who intend to return to full‑time studies in the fall.
- Knowledge of relevant marketing tools, social media platforms and current trends
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Familiarity with layout software, photo editing software or the Canva platform would be an asset.
- Self‑motivated
- Good planning/scheduling of time
- Working towards Marketing degree or in the Tourism related field
- Previous marketing experience considered an asset
- Graphic Design knowledge considered an asset
- Experience with video creation considered an asset
- Understanding the principles of graphic design in order to create marketing materials that are easy to understand and memorable.
- To understand the needs of an audience and create content that is meaningful and engaging.
- Project management principals through the event planning process from beginning to wrap up.
- Work‑flow organization and management.
- Expand their knowledge and understanding of First Nations history, early European settlement and the industrial history of central and northern Vancouver Island.
- What it feels like to work within a supportive and encouraging team environment with an enthusiastic and professional staff.
Students in marketing & communications, multi‑media, tourism and the special event industry will find relevant application of their academic training in this position.
