Position Overview

The Senior Development Officer is responsible for leading and executing fundraising strategies to help the Pacific Salmon achieve its mission and goals. The position will implement activities to advance philanthropic revenue, with a focus on corporate partners and individual donors. The Senior Development Office is a member of the development, marketing and communications team, reporting to the Director of Development, with regular interaction with the Vice President, Marketing, Communications, and Development, as well as occasional engagement with the President & CEO, and other senior organizational program staff.

What You Will Do

The key responsibilities of the Senior Development Officer include:

  • In collaboration with the development team, support the development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising plan, focused on major gifts, to support the PSF’s mission and revenue goals.
  • Lead the development and growth of the organization’s corporate partnerships and major gifts portfolio at the $10,000+ level in support of annual fundraising goals and strategic priorities and to help grow PSF's donor base.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts of $10,000+ through personalized engagement strategies.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain new corporate sponsor ships and partnership opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing corporate supporters.
  • Work with the development team to research and identify prospective donors, corporate partners, and major gift opportunities to expand the organization’s fundraising goals.
  • Play a leading role in stewardship of donors within portfolio, aligned with the organizational process for major donors.
  • Prepare custom fundraising documents, proposals, sponsorship packages, donor presentations, stewardship reports for individual and corporate donors.
  • Collaborate with internal PSF teams and leadership to ensure fundraising is aligned with programmatic goals.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications to implement communications strategies that support fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain accurate donor records within the CRM, ensuring effective donor management, reporting, and accurate progress reports.
  • Aid in the preparation of reports on portfolio metrics and key activities as required.
  • Aid in the promotion and implementation of PSF’s key donor cultivation events, recognition opportunities, and key fundraising initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.
What You Bring
  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, communications, marketing, or other related fields with exposure to fundraising
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a non‑profit development role.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, research and donor engagement skills with a particular focus on initiating and maintaining relationships with donors and partners.
  • Strong customer services attitude and skills.
  • Experience writing and developing fundraising materials.
  • Computer skills required (Word, Excel, Internet research, database/CRM and email).
