Permanent Part-time, 21 hours per week – 3 days a week.
Location:
- YWCA xʷƛ̓əpicən, King Edward and Arbutus St, Vancouver
- May Brown Place, 15th St and Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
* Please note*: There are currently two separate permanent part‑time Community Development Coordinator positions available – one based in Langley and one serving Vancouver and North Vancouver. The two roles may be combined into a single full‑time position for the successful candidate, provided they are able and willing to travel regularly between Langley, Vancouver, and North Vancouver.

As a Community Development Coordinator with YWCA BC, you will connect tenants with community resources and support the development of engaging community programs and activities. In this on‑site role you will work directly with single women and their children living in rent‑geared‑to‑income (RGI) independent housing. Community features shared amenities, a community garden, an outdoor play area and an amenity room offer opportunities for tenant engagement and community building.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with new tenants to provide orientation to their new housing and the community.
- Schedule, organize and facilitate bi‑monthly community conversations with tenants.
- Support the creation of tenant events, celebrations and workshops, ensuring active tenant involvement; create a monthly calendar to display all activities, meetings and events.
- Apply a participant‑centered approach with an intersectional trauma‑informed lens to all tenant interactions and activities.
- Coordinate and fairly distribute donations.
- Track and submit expense reports for site budget.
- Supervise volunteers and practicum students.
- Participate in community committees.
- Maintain amenity and common spaces tidy and clean between weekly professional cleaning at xʷƛ̓əpicən; clean the amenity room at May Brown Place.
- Distribute property management notices to tenants.
- Provide entry to vendors attending the housing sites.
- Report repair issues to property management through the repair portal.
- Coordinate with YWCA programs, including employment and single‑mother’s services, to distribute information and schedule meetings with tenant involvement.
- Provide tours to donors/donor groups.
- Coordinate with fund development regarding donations of goods and services.
- Keep up to date on available resources and programs that may benefit the families.
- Track statistics and program outcomes.
- Adhere to onsite Health and Safety Procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of community development principles.
- Experience facilitating group meetings and events.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills and ability to prioritize duties.
- Knowledge of issues faced by lone‑parenting women.
- Knowledge of local and city‑wide community services and skill in researching resources.
- Familiarity with trauma‑informed practice.
- Familiarity with de‑escalation.
- Team player.
- Ability to work independently and be self‑motivated.
- Ability to show initiative, flexibility and demonstrate a positive attitude towards change and work.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams, One Drive, SharePoint).
- A valid, clear criminal record check (including work with vulnerable populations) is required.
