Position: Consulting Associate, Fisheries Biologist (Fixed Term)

The full‑time, fixed‑term role (May–September 2026) is designed for early‑career professionals ready to support multimillion‑dollar projects, advance ERM’s global sustainability strategy, and shape responsible development of freshwater ecosystems.

What Your Impact Is   Conduct fisheries, aquatic biology, and water quality field programs across freshwater environments in Canada.
Ensure high‑quality field results through rigorous QA/QC practices.
Support environmental assessments and permitting for large‑scale capital projects.
Collaborate closely with Indigenous field support staff, contributing to community‑driven and inclusive project execution.
Become a key member of a growing fisheries and biodiversity team delivering work within Canada and globally.
Compile, organize, and manage data, photos, and laboratory results that inform technical recommendations and client strategies.
Prepare summaries, SOPs, and monitoring reports that advance decision‑making and project progress.
What You'll Bring   Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s in Fisheries Biology or a related discipline.
Field experience in fish and fish habitat assessments, fish sampling on lakes and rivers, water quality sampling, and aquatic biology.
Knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and Territorial regulations relevant to the mining and oil & gas sectors.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proven data management and QA/QC capabilities.
Strong commitment to safety and following established Health & Safety procedures.
Ability to work in fast‑paced environments, multitask, adapt, and operate independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent problem‑solving abilities.
A positive, collaborative approach; self‑starter attitude; and motivation driven by ERM’s global mission.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%.
Driver's license required (valid license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle).
Pleasure Craft Operator’s License.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred   

Experience with hydroacoustic/bathymetric assessments, fish tagging, telemetry, fish habitat offsetting.
Certifications such as electromark fishing, intermediate first aid, first aid transportation endorsement, ATV training, swiftwater rescue.
Experience communicating professionally with clients, contractors, and site personnel.

Key Responsibilities   Conduct fish and fish habitat field programs, aquatic biology surveys, and water quality sampling throughout Canada’s freshwater systems.
Perform QA/QC to ensure accuracy and integrity of collected data.
Compile and organize field data, photographs, and laboratory reports; contribute to database management.
Draft field trip summaries, data summaries, SOPs, and monitoring or technical reports.
Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and field teams.
Train and collaborate with Indigenous field support staff to support inclusive project execution.
Compensation  For the Consulting Associate, Fisheries Biologist (Fixed Term) position, the anticipated hourly pay is $30.29 – $34.59 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
