Overview

Jacobs Engineering is seeking a Laboratory Analyst I to support environmental and wastewater laboratory operations. This role is ideal for candidates with science education or laboratory experience who are interested in environmental testing, sample analysis, and laboratory operations in a team-oriented environment.

Important Notes:
Schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday on day shift;
Some holiday work may be required;
Candidates must be able to stand for approximately 80% of the workday;
Regular lifting of 1–15 lbs. required, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze wastewater samples for Total Suspended Solids, Fecal Coliform, Ammonia, pH, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, and other laboratory tests
  • Analyze solid samples for %
    TS and %
    VS measurements
  • Collect and prepare air and wastewater treatment samples for analysis
  • Use microscopes to identify bacteria in wastewater samples
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment including incubators, autoclaves, pH probes, dissolved oxygen probes, and analytical balances
  • Follow proper sample handling and chain of custody procedures
  • Create accurate sample fractions and maintain laboratory documentation
  • Receive and log chemicals, supplies, and environmental samples
  • Enter and validate laboratory data accurately in LIMS systems
  • Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Cross-train to support industrial sampling operations as needed
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures and properly use required PPE
  • Support proper disposal of environmental samples
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a Science-related field
  • Experience analyzing environmental or wastewater samples
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and documentation practices
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a laboratory setting
