Position OverviewWe are seeking a Marine Biologist with 5 to 10 years of environmental permitting and monitoring experience on projects in aquatic habitats.
Responsibilities- Manage environmental permitting and compliance monitoring projects and lead project teams.
- Mentor junior staff, meet client expectations, and manage client deliverables.
- Write and review technical reports.
- Scope project tasks with senior professionals and prepare high‑quality deliverables on time and within budget.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, regulatory agencies, and others.
- Manage multiple tasks and assignments with excellent attention to detail to track requirements from permits, management plans, and contract requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
- B.Sc. degree or higher.
- Registered as a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBIO) or pending application.
- Compliance with health and safety programs, including WorkSafeBC regulations, Job Hazard Analysis, and Field Level Risk Assessments.
- Registered in good standing with a regulatory body governed by the Professional Governance Act of British Columbia.
- Experience leading the preparation of, or being a skilled of record on, technical reports and plans used to obtain environmental approvals or comply with permit or contract requirements, such as aquatic effects and residual impact assessments, environmental management or protection plans, habitat offsetting plans and habitat balance tables, fish and fish habitat monitoring plans, and construction monitoring reports.
- Experience conducting and/or coordinating environmental monitoring of marine construction or dredging, water quality monitoring, sediment sampling, intertidal and subtidal biophysical surveys, underwater video or remotely operated vehicle surveys, species at risk desktop and field assessments, fish detection surveys, underwater noise monitoring, and marine mammal observing.
Projects are across the greater Vancouver region in British Columbia and may involve other provinces or territories.
