Position: Physical Rehabilitation Specialist - Deployment Support-EN
CFMWS – WHERE PURPOSE MEETS PASSION!

At Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS), we support Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and their families by delivering a range of programs and services focused on mental, social, physical, financial and familial wellbeing.

THE ROLE
As a deployed Reconditioning Specialist, you will deliver exercise and reconditioning services to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and partner nations overseas for six months. Your work will enhance troop morale and welfare, improve functional abilities for service members affected by medical conditions, and support overall mission readiness.

Lead reconditioning programs for CAF members with medical conditions.

Design specific programs and services that support reconditioning and prevent future injury.

Provide training and professional development to local team members.

Assist partners with healthy practices and injury prevention initiatives.

Assist with recreational activities and events to keep troops mentally and physically energized.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or a related field.

Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS CPR) and First Aid certification.

Valid driver’s licence (province).

Canadian citizenship.

Valid Canadian passport.

Experience

Development, coordination, research, planning and delivery of reconditioning and physical fitness programming.

Fitness counseling to clients with physical and/or mental injuries.

Referral of clients requiring supplementary medical assessments or medical advice.

Leading physical fitness evaluations, baseline testing techniques for individuals with chronic metabolic and/or musculoskeletal disorders or injuries.

Research, design, and conduct of physical fitness education sessions.

Data collection, assessment, case management and report writing.

Reviewing assessments of medical providers and developing recommendations for reconditioning and fitness programming.

Coordinating with external services regarding client progress and providing recommendations.

Establishing and sustaining partnerships with professional contacts and external organizations.

Oral and written communication for professional and public audiences.

Research, development, conduction and promotion of health, wellness and fitness education training.

Facilitation of briefings on specialized topics for adult audiences.

Application of policies, procedures, and regulations.

Additional Qualifications Prior To Deployment

Completion of a health, dental and psychosocial assessment.

Security screening.

Ability to walk and lift, carry, pull or push heavy items.

JOB INFORMATION
Position Type
Civilian deployment contracts are 6‑month terms. Deployment start dates may take place within the next 2 years.

Hours of work
Maximum 56 hours per week, which includes weekdays and weekends.
