The UBC Botanical Garden is seeking a part-time Collections Technician to assist in accessioning plants and verifying their identification. This role involves mapping data, producing signage, and collaborating with herbarium staff for specimen deposits. You will also contribute to the outreach channels, including blogs and forums, allowing the public to engage with the University’s plant collections.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accession plants into the IrisBG database
• Map accessions and produce required signage
• Assist in maintaining the plant database
• Photograph identifying features of specimens
• Support researchers in plant identification tasks
Requirements:
• Relevant technical program completion or degree
• Minimum three years of related experience
• Strong commitment to equity and diversity
• Willingness to engage with diverse perspectives
• Ability to work independently under supervision
